🛠️ Step By Step: How to Get Rid of Flies
1. Keep Bin Lids Shut
and wash the bins out, especially in summer.
2. Pick Up Pet Droppings and Fallen Fruit
every day or two.
3. Keep the Compost Covered
and away from the house.
4. Fit Fly Screens
to the windows and doors you leave open.
5. A Blowfly Problem That Appears Suddenly
often means something has died nearby, such as a rat or bird in the roof or under the house.
6. For Small Flies Around the Sink or Fruit Bowl
clear out old fruit, clean the drains and let pot plant soil dry out between watering.
⚠️ Cluster Flies
Cluster flies breed in pasture and move into roof spaces and wall cavities in their thousands in autumn to spend the winter. Cleaning will not stop them, because they are not breeding in your house. Vacuum up the ones you find. A bad cluster fly problem usually needs treatment.
